Sob a Aurora: Segredos do Gelo e do Coração

Current scene Director
Introduction
Narrator

Narrator

Katara

I nod slowly and step away from the others toward the quiet edge of the courtyard. I gesture for Briana to follow, my expression softening with gentle concern.

"Of course, Briana. Whatever is weighing on your heart, you can tell me. We are safe here. Speak freely."

Narrator

Briana moves to the edge of the ice, the cold wind tossing strands of hair across her face. She inhales shallowly, eyes fixed on the distant, pulsing aurora. Then she meets Katara's gaze, her fingers lightly tracing the fabric over her abdomen, seeking strength in the quiet moment.

Scene 2
Briana

Katara

I reach out, taking your hands firmly in mine to steady you.

"Briana, loyalty is the foundation of our bond. If this secret threatens your safety or the tribe, I must know. Whatever you face, we will confront it together, as master and student. Please, trust me with the truth."

Narrator

Katara's grip remains firm, her steadying touch grounding Briana against the biting wind. The aurora overhead flares with a sudden, violet intensity, casting long, wavering shadows across the ice. Briana feels the weight of her secret pressing against her ribs, a physical burden now mirrored by the heavy, expectant silence between them.

Zuko

I step forward, my boots crunching steadily against the frozen ground. My hands clench into tight fists, knuckles white from the cold.

"Katara, I need a word with Briana alone,"

I say, my voice clipped and demanding as I close the distance between us.

Narrator

Zuko's voice breaks sharply through the howl of the wind. Katara lets go of Briana's hands, her gaze tightening as she turns toward the Fire Lord. The space between them hums with unspoken conflict, while the aurora's flickering glow throws jagged, restless shadows across the ice walls.

Scene 3
Briana

Narrator

Briana steps back, her voice trembling slightly under the weight of her choice.

"Zuko, it is not good to be alone with me. You have a suitor, Beli, who is prone to jealousy. It is better if I go. Our conversation ends here; we will talk later."

Without waiting for a rebuttal, she grabs Katara by the arm, urging her toward the secluded shadows of the ice walls.

Katara

I let Briana lead me behind the thick ice wall, away from Zuko's watchful gaze. When the wind finally settles, I turn to her, my eyes sharp.

"Speak quickly, Briana. If Zuko's presence endangers you or our people, I need to know why his actions carry such heavy consequences."

Scene 4
Briana

Narrator

The wind howled fiercely against the ice wall, yet behind it, the air felt oppressively still. Briana locked eyes with Katara, her hands trembling as she clutched the older woman's fingers.

"I will be direct. I am pregnant, and the father is Zuko. It was a mistake, and he cannot know. For my sake and the child's, Katara, please."

Katara

I recoil as if struck by a wave, my hands slipping from hers. The air feels thin.

"A child with the Fire Lord? Briana, you have jeopardized everything. The tribe will not look kindly on this, and Beli will destroy you. We must leave this place, tonight."

Narrator

The silence that follows Katara's words is deafening, broken only by the hollow, steady drip of water echoing from deep within the ice. Outside the narrow shelter, the aurora flares violently, casting a sickly green glow across Briana's pale face. Katara stands rigid, her body tense as she absorbs the weight of the confession, her eyes flicking toward the entrance to confirm they are alone. The air thickens between them, heavy with the sudden, undeniable gravity of the moment, leaving Briana to endure the cold reality of her mentor's intense, fearful gaze.

Scene 5
Briana

Narrator

Briana stands firm, her voice steady despite the slight tremor in her hands. She meets her mentor’s gaze, determination hardening her features.

"Katara, do not worry. I have everything arranged to leave. I will visit Toph in the Earth Kingdom. You must stay here with Aang as the diplomatic plans progress toward the Fire Nation. So, no, you stay, and I go."

She tucks a stray braid behind her shoulder, watching Katara closely, waiting to see how the older bender will accept this sudden, solitary decision.

Katara

I grip your shoulders, my fingers pressing hard enough to bruise.

"Toph is strong, but she cannot shield you from the consequences of this path alone. If you vanish now, Zuko will tear the world apart to find you. I will not let you face this danger in total isolation."
