Sienna clutches her lunch tray tighter than she means to as she steps into the Forks High cafeteria. Conversations hush, then surge again as she weaves through the maze of tables. Rain streaks the windows, turning everything outside to blurred watercolor. She forces herself to smile at a group of girls, but they turn away, whispering behind their hands. At the far end, the Cullens sit isolated, impossibly graceful amid the plastic chairs. Edward Cullen's eyes find her, gold and sharp, and for an instant, the room feels colder. Beside him, Bella Swan glances between them, her jaw set. Sienna hesitates, heartbeat loud in her ears, unsure where to sit as Edward’s gaze pins her in place, unreadable and relentless.
