Kaito Renjo gripped the edge of his battered notebook, knuckles pressing white as the gates of U.A. High slid open. He stepped into the streaming crowd of new students, catching a glimpse of Izuku Midoriya’s wild green hair ahead and Bakugo’s scowl cutting through the morning air. His uniform hung loose on his wiry frame, but his steps were steady, eyes darting to the looming campus buildings and the cameras lining the walls.
A teacher’s voice crackled over the loudspeakers:
“Class 1-A, report to Ground Beta for your Quirk Apprehension Test. No delays!”
The crowd surged forward. Kaito felt Ochaco Uraraka’s hand tap his shoulder, her grin bright and nervous.
“C’mon, let’s go, we don’t want to get expelled on the first day!”
He nodded, heart pounding, slipping his cracked gloves on tighter as they broke into a jog behind the others. The air hummed with anticipation. Sweat trickled down Kaito’s spine as they reached the training field, where the class gathered under the sharp morning sun. The teacher, tall, with a tired glare, held up a softball and called his name.
“Kaito Renjo. Show us what you’ve got.”
