Introduction
Narrator

Jade squeezes through the knot of kids clustered at the fence, her sneakers crunching popcorn underfoot, and waves as she spots Lila waving wildly from the metal bleachers. Lila’s eyes are wide, cheeks flushed with excitement as she calls out,

“Y/N! Where were you?!? Whatever, I have news!!!”

Just as Jade flops onto the bench beside her, Jules leans in, grinning, and says,

“Lila and Chandler broke up!!!”

Xavier bounces a football on his knee, glancing between Jade and Kayla, while Zach tries to hide a smirk. The band blares a marching tune behind them, drowning out the groans from the field. Everyone leans in, waiting for Jade to react, the moment teetering between gossip and laughter, the crisp night buzzing with possibility.

Scene 1
Jade

are you serious? what the hell happened?

Narrator

Jade leans forward, eyes wide with disbelief.

"Are you serious? What the hell happened?"

she asks, her voice cutting through the stadium noise. Lila shifts uneasily on the bleachers, clutching her bag tightly. Jules glances at Lila with a sympathetic nod, waiting for her to explain.

Lila

I bounce on the bleachers, my voice tight.

"He saw me texting Mark and just spiraled! He started shouting right in the commons, claiming I was flirting. Can you believe it? He actually accused me of playing games, so I just told him we were done right then and there."

Narrator

The stadium lights flare brighter, casting sharp shadows across the bleachers. Zach stops smirking, his gaze dropping to his shoes. Kayla leans in closer to Lila, her expression unreadable. The band’s rhythmic thumping continues, but the tension in the small circle of friends is thick and palpable.

Kayla

I put an arm around Lila and glare at the field.

"That is totally unfair, Lila! Chandler has always been way too dramatic about everything. You deserve someone who actually trusts you, not some guy who makes a scene in the commons. Are you doing okay?"

Narrator

A heavy silence settles over the group, broken only by the distant, muffled roar of the crowd reacting to a play on the field. Xavier stops bouncing the football, letting it rest still against his legs, while Jules fingers a pattern in the spilled popcorn on the bench. The air turns noticeably cold.

Scene 2
Jade

im sorry girl.. hes just insecure *rolls my eyes, glancing over at jules before looking away

Narrator

Jade sighs, rolling her eyes toward the dark sky.

"I'm sorry girl.. he's just insecure,"

she mutters, catching Jules's gaze for a brief moment before quickly looking away. The air feels thinner, the stadium lights buzzing above them like a swarm of angry insects as the group waits for the next move.

Zach

I adjust my glasses and let out a sharp, knowing laugh.

"Honestly, this was bound to happen. Remember that time Chandler threw a tantrum because someone sat in his assigned seat? The guy has always been a walking powder keg. You’re definitely better off without that drama, Lila."

Narrator

Jules leans back against the metal bench, her expression shifting from sympathy to a sharp, calculating glint. She studies the group, her gaze lingering on the field where the game continues unabated, then turns her focus toward Xavier, who remains uncharacteristically quiet while clutching the football.

Xavier

I shift the football slightly, meeting each of your eyes in turn.

"It sounds like a really rough situation for everyone involved. Emotions are clearly running high right now, but maybe it is best to give things a little space before we decide exactly who is at fault."

Narrator

Xavier’s calm assessment lingers, cutting through the earlier heat of indignation. Kayla shifts her weight, loosening her hold on Lila’s shoulder as her gaze drops to the stadium grass. The crowd’s roar rises, swallowing the tension around them. Jules begins tapping her nails in a steady rhythm on the metal bleacher, eyes flicking over the rows of students nearby.

Scene 3
Jade

nods* yeah... itll be okay lila i promise *smiles

Narrator

Jade nods slowly, her features softening with quiet resolve. She reaches out, gently squeezing Lila’s arm, offering a small, reassuring smile.

"Yeah... it’ll be okay, Lila, I promise,"

she says, her voice low and earnest against the steady hum of the stadium. Nearby, Chandler stands by the fence, his expression guarded and brooding as he watches the group.

Chandler

I step away from the fence, my boots scraping the concrete as I approach the group. I offer a bitter, tight-lipped smile toward the circle.

"It is truly touching to see such unwavering loyalty. I suppose it is easier to pick a side when you only hear one version of the story."

Narrator

The space between the bleachers and the fence crackles with tense energy. Lila freezes, her knuckles tightening white against her lap. Kayla inhales sharply, the sound sharp in the quiet. Jules shifts her gaze toward Chandler, eyes narrowing as she rises slowly, her shadow stretching long and jagged across the metal seats.

Jules

I plant my hands firmly on my hips, stepping right into his path.

"Oh please, Chandler. If you wanted to tell your side, you should have done it without making a scene in the commons. You don't get to act like the victim now that everyone knows the truth."

Narrator

Chandler flinches slightly, his jaw tightening as the crowd's roar surges, momentarily drowning out the standoff. The air between them feels heavy and charged, the metallic taste of the bleachers suddenly sharp. Xavier slowly stands, placing a restraining hand on the back of the bench, watching the confrontation with a wary, unblinking intensity.

Scene 4
Jade

(later after the game, we all are walking down the sidewalk to the local 7/11, and im walking next to jules) your hair looks nice jules *softly

Narrator

The stadium lights dim behind them as the group walks along the cracked sidewalk toward the flickering glow of the local 7/11. The night air is sharp and cool. Jade stays close to Jules, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

"Your hair looks nice, Jules,"

Jade says softly. Jules slows down, turning to meet her gaze.

Jules

I beam, brushing my hair back with a quick, practiced motion.

"Thanks, Jade! I honestly needed that after everything with Chandler back there. Seriously though, did you see his face when I called him out? It was totally priceless, and I have so much more to tell you about him."

Narrator

Jules stops beneath the flickering neon glow of the streetlamps, her eyes sparking with that familiar frantic energy. The rest of the group moves ahead, their laughter fading into the hum of passing cars. Xavier looks back at them, his face unreadable, as Jules leans in to whisper.

Xavier

I jog back to catch up, tossing the football into the air and catching it with a grin.

"Hey, no fair keeping the good stories to yourselves! If we are stopping for snacks, let us make it a group effort. Who is buying the slushies tonight?"

Scene 5
Jade

not it!!! *i put a finger to my nose

Narrator

Jade taps her nose with a lightning-fast motion, eyes wide and playful.

"Not it!!!"

she declares, grinning at the others. Jules lets out a sharp, surprised laugh and instinctively mimics the gesture, her hand flying to her own face. Xavier watches them both, his grin widening as he clutches the football tighter to his chest.

Jules

I point a finger straight at Xavier, laughing as I lean into the frame of the store entrance.

"Nice try, but you are definitely the one buying. You have been carrying that football all night, so consider it your tax for being the group quarterback!"

Narrator

Xavier halts, clutching the football tightly under his arm. His eyes flick from the neon glow of the 7/11 sign to his friends, a mock-serious expression creeping onto his face. The cool night breeze tousles his hair as he considers the sudden, playful accusation.

Xavier

I feign a look of complete betrayal, clutching the ball to my chest.

"My own friends, turning on me for the sake of a few blue raspberries? Fine, I suppose my wallet will have to take the hit for the sake of peace. Move it, before I change my mind."

Narrator

The bell above the convenience store door jingles as they step inside, the fluorescent lights glaring down, stark against the cool evening air. The scent of stale coffee and hot dogs lingers. Xavier walks confidently toward the slushie machine, his shoulders easing. The steady hum of the cooling units fills the narrow, cluttered aisle.
