The story behind Youniverse Maker

Youniverse Maker is interactive entertainment: a story you play through instead of watch. A place to step into a universe, follow a protagonist, and shape what happens next. Worlds remember you. Choices change them. Timelines branch.

Why we built this

Every tool we tried made us choose: spend hours setting up character sheets and lorebooks before you can play, or use a chatbot that forgets everything by scene ten. Manage your own prompts, or accept a rigid script someone else designed.

We wanted something different. A place where you pick a world, step into a protagonist, and start playing in under three minutes. Where the world remembers who you are, what you've done, and where you're heading. Where scenes come illustrated, grounding your imagination in something you can actually see.

There was a bigger idea underneath it. Entertainment has mostly meant watching, where you follow along, or gaming, where you learn the controls and the rules. We wanted the space in between: the pull of a good story with you in the lead, in the time you would otherwise spend scrolling for something to put on.

What makes it different

  • Worlds that remember you. Characters carry weeks of context. Walk back into a scene days later and the world picks up where you left off.
  • Alternate timelines. Branch from any scene to see how things would have unfolded differently. The original timeline stays untouched.
  • Two ways to play. Director Mode lets you guide the wider world. Campaign Mode keeps you in your protagonist's shoes only, with the world pushing back on its own.
  • Protagonist-led. The camera follows one character. That's what makes it feel like a show, not a sandbox.

Who it's for

Whether you're after a half-hour of entertainment after work, a gamer who wants to explore paths your games never let you take, a tabletop player between sessions, or just curious what happens when you step into a world and make it yours, Youniverse Maker is for you.
