Ayrelle Targaryen

Human · Princess

Princess Ayrelle Targaryen possesses an ethereal beauty, with pale skin dusted with freckles, striking green eyes flecked with violet, and hair that shifts from fiery ginger to silvery white. Her regal bearing is tempered by a cautious intelligence, and a barely concealed defiance glimmers beneath her practiced courtly grace.

Goal: To escape detection with the stolen Valyrian tome and avoid Ser Arthur Dayne's scrutiny.

How it begins

Ayrelle Targaryen pressed a hand to the cool stone as she moved swiftly through the torch-lit corridor behind the throne room, the distant clamor of voices echoing through the walls. Her fingers brushed the hidden seam of an ancient door, the stolen Valyrian tome heavy beneath her cloak. The faint scuff of boots stopped her. Ser Arthur Dayne stepped from the shadows, the white of his Kingsguard cloak stark in the gloom.

"Princess,"

he murmured, eyes flicking from her hooded face to the bulge beneath her arm. In the next instant, a bell tolled in the courtyard, a summons, or a warning. Footsteps approached from the far end, shouts ringing out, sharper now. Ayrelle caught Arthur’s gaze; his jaw tightened, but his hand hovered protectively near his sword. The shadows seemed to close in as the corridor grew more dangerous with each heartbeat.

About this world

The Red Keep towers over King's Landing, seat of the Iron Throne and heart of Targaryen rule. In the twilight of King Aerys II's reign, the castle is a labyrinth of courtyards, secret passages, and echoing halls. Paranoia, whispers, and courtly intrigue define daily life as loyalty is tested and old wounds from the Blackfyre Rebellions fester.

The Red Keep, perched atop Aegon's High Hill, is a fortress of red stone and white towers overseeing the sprawling city of King's Landing. Its walls enclose a maze of courtyards, gardens, and shadowed corridors that conceal as much danger as splendor. The Great Hall, with its looming dragon skulls, hosts tense gatherings beneath the Iron Throne. Guards and courtiers move warily, their steps measured against the ever-watchful eyes of the king’s informants. King Aerys II sits the throne, his moods capricious, and his paranoia growing since the Defiance of Duskendale. Political power is concentrated in the hands of the Targaryens and their loyalists, but the great houses, Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Tyrell, and Martell, send envoys and rivals, always seeking influence or leverage. The Kingsguard, sworn to protect their monarch, struggle to balance loyalty with the kingdom’s fractious politics. The Targaryen dynasty’s signs of decline are whispered in the shadows, with dragonfire a memory and magic nearly extinct. Daily life for nobles is a careful dance of alliances and betrayals, balls and feasts laced with tension. For servants and guards, the Keep can turn deadly on a rumor. Old Valyrian traditions linger in private, but public displays are rare, as suspicion of sorcery runs high. Every corner hides secrets, and every loyalty is suspect; survival in the Red Keep means outlasting rumor, steel, and the king’s unpredictable wrath.
