Protagonist
Rei Shinomiya
Rei Shinomiya stands lean and tense, hollow-eyed from sleepless nights, the quietest storm in the room. Dark hair frames a wary gaze, sleeves shoved carelessly up the Jujutsu High uniform. Fiercely stubborn, they radiate cautious resolve and the bleak humor of someone who never expects to win, yet refuses to quit.
Goal: To survive Gojo's pop quiz and get out of the training gym.
How it begins
Rei Shinomiya braces their palms against the cold gym floor, heart hammering as Gojo’s voice echoes off concrete and the hum of cursed energy sharpens the air. Yuji lands beside them with a grunt, rolling to his feet and offering a hand up, his grin too bright for the tension in the room. Megumi stands with quiet wariness at the edge, shadow simmering beneath his shoes. Nobara twirls a nail between her fingers, chin up, gaze fixed on Rei.
“Pop quiz,”
Gojo calls, blindfold gleaming as he leans on the wall, impossibly relaxed.
“One of you makes it out the door. The rest, well... try harder.”
A jagged shimmer of glassy cursed energy flickers in Rei’s palm, barely controlled, as sweat beads at their brow. The barrier seals off the exits, cold and absolute. The only way out is through each other, and the stakes feel real, even if Gojo’s grin says this is all just the start.
Yuji nudges Rei, low voice urgent,
“We got this, right?”
Somewhere above, a light flickers. The fight has already begun.
About this world
Shadowed by modern Tokyo, a hidden world festers with Curses born from fear and hatred. Jujutsu sorcerers, rare individuals able to wield cursed energy, fight to protect the unsuspecting masses. Tokyo Jujutsu High, disguised and barriered in the mountains, trains uneasy prodigies for an endless, bloody struggle. The death toll climbs as something old and monstrous stirs beneath the city.
Tokyo Beneath the Veil is a city split in two: the mundane world of crowded trains, neon-lit alleys, and ceaseless urban life, and the secret underlayer where Curses thrive in forgotten corners and negative emotions. Most citizens pass through life unaware, their sadness and rage leaking into shadows to birth Curses, malignant spirits invisible to normal eyes but lethal to the unlucky. Jujutsu sorcerers, a rare breed born with the gift (or curse) to see and wield cursed energy, walk among them, sworn to a battle that never ends.
At the heart of this struggle stands Tokyo Jujutsu High, an ancient institution hidden behind elaborate barriers in the forested mountains at the city’s edge. Its dorms and training halls are grim, battered by generations of desperate lessons; its storehouses and forbidden vaults hold relics of triumph and disaster. Students here are not just taught, they are forged, tested by relentless drills, brutal missions into the city, and the knowledge that death is a daily hazard. The faculty, from eccentric visionaries to calculating survivors, answer to the higher-ups, whose politics are as cold as the curses they send students to destroy.
The sorcerer world is stratified and suspicious, governed by legacy, strength, and a willingness to sacrifice. Cursed Techniques are rare, unique gifts that define a sorcerer’s path, honed through pain and peril. The very strongest can unleash Domain Expansions, reality-warping spaces that guarantee victory within their bounds, or make binding vows to trade power for risk. Cursed Tools, objects imbued with malicious energy, are wielded by those with skill or desperation. Sorcerer society is a brittle alliance, threaded with clan rivalries and the looming threat of curse users, heretics who bend the system for their own ends. Through it all, a few students cling to each other, learning that home is what you defend, not what you inherit. In the darkness, something more dangerous than stray Curses is gathering, and survival is never guaranteed.
