Leona Kingscholar

Beastman (lion, mage) · Housewarden of Savanaclaw, second prince of the Sunset Savanna

A tall, broad-shouldered lion beastman with sandy, loose-braided hair, deep brown skin, and sharp green eyes that miss nothing. He carries an air of magnificent irritation and slouches with practiced indifference, but every muscle hints at coiled power and a mind sharper than his lazy facade.

Goal: To coast through school with minimal effort and avoid any unnecessary exertion.

How it begins

Leona shifts, half-asleep, on the battered couch in Savanaclaw’s common room while sunlight spills hot stripes across his face. Ruggie’s sharp voice cuts through the haze.

“Oi, Housewarden, they want you out on the pitch. Magic-sport captains are picking teams.”

Leona cracks one green eye and sees Ruggie, arms full of practice jerseys and grinning like he’s just snatched a wallet. The dorm is noisy, laughter, claws on tile, someone arguing near the door. Jack stands by the window, arms folded, tail twitching, glancing at Leona as if daring him to get up and lead for once. The air smells of dust, sweat, and old ambition. Leona exhales, the weight of the day pressing down as hard as memory. He pushes up, mane falling into his eyes, and drawls,

“If they’re that desperate, tell them to wait.”

But Ruggie only shrugs and tosses a jersey into Leona’s lap. Somewhere outside, the crowd roars, the season’s first match is about to start, and every eye is on the lions’ den.

About this world

Night Raven College is an elite academy for gifted mages, divided into seven dorms inspired by legendary villains. Savanaclaw, home to beastmen who bristle at second place, basks in sunlit courtyards and den-like comfort. Here, power is measured in magic, pride, and the scars left by fate. Beneath the surface, resentment and rivalry simmer, stoked by tradition and the ever-present threat of magical catastrophe.

Night Raven College stands alone atop a craggy bluff, its gothic towers and arched halls a labyrinth of shadowed stone and stained glass. The campus sprawls from the lacquered darkness of the main hall to the open, sunstruck courtyards of Savanaclaw Dorm, where dry grass and warm sandstone evoke the wild majesty of the Sunset Savanna. Savanaclaw’s den-like common rooms hum with the restless energy of beastmen, lions, hyenas, wolves, who were told to know their place and learned instead to challenge it. The air here is thick with the scent of sunwarmed fur, dust, and unspoken rivalry. The College sorts its students by the Dark Mirror, assigning them to dorms based on the echoes of infamous villains and forging micro-societies shaped as much by ancient tradition as current ambition. In Savanaclaw, pride and hunger rule, and the strong rise, or are toppled, by force, cunning, or sheer will.

Magic here is wielded through pens, a blend of theory and raw power. Every student has a Unique Magic, a signature spell that marks their soul, but every spell cast draws from a finite well, overreach, and the school’s legendary overblot claims the reckless, transforming them into monsters of pure despair. Beastmen, though strong, are too often dismissed by human mages and looked down on by the fae elite, the greatest of whom, Malleus Draconia, presides over Diasomnia like a dragon among sheep. Social order is brittle: princes and paupers alike scrape for recognition in a hierarchy that is both magical and merciless. Classes are an afterthought for the ambitious and the bitter; it is the unspoken competitions, the sports field battles, and the secrets traded in shadowed corridors that matter. Night Raven College is a crucible where genius, resentment, and destiny collide, and every prince, spare or crowned, must decide what to do with a kingdom that will never be theirs.
