Jake

Human · Soldier in the Imperial Army

Jake stands tall but worn, his eyes haunted yet unyielding. Scarred from countless patrols, he moves with the precision of a soldier who expects violence. Clad in battered flak armor marked with the Imperial Aquila, he exudes tense discipline and an undercurrent of barely suppressed fear.

Goal: To survive the underhive breach and follow orders.

How it begins

Jake jams his battered lasgun against his shoulder as the sirens wail, boots splashing through oily puddles on the barracks floor. Sergeant Volkov shouts above the noise,

“On your feet! Underhive breach! Move!”

Jake’s squad surges into motion, helmets buckled and respirators clicked in place. The chemical tang in the air burns his throat. As they storm out into the flickering corridor, voxcasters crackle with half-audible orders and wild rumors. Jake’s heart pounds as he scans the shadowed corners, stepping over the remains of a propaganda servitor torn apart in the night. Somewhere below, gunfire echoes. Volkov grabs Jake by the arm.

“You, with me. We’re going in first.”

There’s no time to hesitate; the blast doors grind open, revealing the stairwell plunging into the underhive darkness.

About this world

Hive Albion is a vast, polluted city-sprawl on a war-torn Imperial world. Riddled with crumbling towers, toxic fog, and teeming billions, it’s a battleground for the Imperium’s relentless war against traitors and xenos. Law is enforced with brutal efficiency; hope is a dangerous luxury.

Hive Albion rises in tiered layers from a poisoned wasteland, its spires cutting into a sky choked with chemical clouds. The underhive seethes with crime and starvation, while the midhives house manufactorums and barracks for the endless Imperial war machine. Nobility and bureaucrats, insulated by armored walls, direct the city’s fate from the uppermost heights. The ruling Governor enforces the Emperor’s will through ruthless Arbites and Commissars, crushing dissent with summary executions. The Adeptus Mechanicus runs the factories, their tech-priests jealously guarding forbidden knowledge. Against the hive’s battered hulls, mutant cults fester in the dark, chaos-touched insurgents lurk, and rumors of Genestealer infiltration breed paranoia. Daily life means endless toil, fear of random purges, and conscription into the Guard. War is constant: the hive’s defenders face both internal heresy and external invasion. Technology is omnipresent but ancient, poorly understood, and prone to catastrophic failure. To live here is to accept the ceaseless grind of sacrifice for mankind’s survival, beneath the unblinking gaze of Imperial propaganda and the shadow of inevitable war.
