Destiny

Human · Nail tech

Destiny is a grown woman who owns her presence. She is a caramel-skinned Black woman, 5'4, with shoulder-length dreadlocks and piercings that glint when she grins. Her wide doe eyes and playful edge come out with her people, but her vibe is chill and she's always ready to get hood if needed. Recently returned from Florida, she carries both nostalgia and caution.

Goal: To surprise her brothers and see how they react to her return.

How it begins

Destiny creeps up the porch steps, duffel bag slung low and sneakers soft on the concrete. She pauses, steadying her breath as muffled voices and laughter drift through the screen door, her brothers, talking loud and careless, completely unaware. Destiny grins, biting back a laugh, and pushes the door open without warning. Marcus nearly drops his cup, eyes wide, gold flashing in surprise. Tyrone’s jaw drops, then he lets out a shout, rushing over. Lamar lifts his head slow, breaking into a rare, real smile.

"Girl, what the, ?"

Marcus starts, but Destiny just steps inside, holding her arms wide. For a split second, everyone freezes; then the room floods with noise and hugs. Destiny soaks it in, the shock, the love, the way home feels when nobody saw it coming.

About this world

On Chicago’s South Side, every block tells a story. Family, loyalty, and hustle rule daily life as people navigate ambition, danger, and love on streets watched by both neighbors and rivals. Old connections run deep, but the city never stands still, especially for those who leave and come back.

Chicago’s South Side weaves tight neighborhoods, busy corner stores, and sun-faded row houses into a living map of memory and survival. Summers bring out block parties, the scent of fried food, and the thrum of subwoofers rolling by. Winters are harsh, but never enough to freeze out the heat of street loyalty or the laughter spilling from crowded apartments. Here, the 63rd Street Mob Gang claims its turf with equal parts pride and paranoia. Police prowl the avenues, but residents mostly watch out for each other, and trust is reserved for those who earn it in sweat and sacrifice.

Destiny’s brothers, Marcus, Tyrone, and Lamar, share a house on 63rd, running their own street business while keeping tight family bonds. Destiny, recently returned from Florida, carries both nostalgia and caution; she’s a nail tech with hustler instincts and a playful streak, grown enough to stand her ground. Childhood friend Bakari Bronson, raised in foster care, grew up alongside her and her brothers but hasn’t seen Destiny in years. Their old crew, scattered but not forgotten, still shapes the present, connections that can mean everything when lines are drawn. Life on these streets is equal parts risk and joy, every day a new test of wit and determination. The city’s rhythm pulses with opportunity, threat, and the hope for something real beyond the next corner.
