In this contest, reputation is everything, and only one name will echo loudest at the finish.

Protagonist
Tomo Kase
Tomo Kase stands lean and alert, every movement measured and purposeful. Their eyes flick from shadow to shadow, always analyzing, never still, a strategist’s edge visible in the set of their jaw. The dark uniform fits for speed rather than style, and a dry confidence covers the nerves beneath.
Goal: Make my name on the biggest stage a first-year gets, outlast the Kyoto students and my own monstrous classmates through every round, and prove to the watching faculty, and to myself, that I belong among the strong.
How it begins
Tomo Kase pushes through the clamor, weaving between Yuji’s bright grin and Megumi’s narrowed eyes as the faculty’s whistle splits the morning air. The mossy flagstones are slick beneath Tomo’s feet, the smell of wet earth sharp and grounding as Kyoto’s team fans out across the ruins. Nobara tosses a nail in her palm, voice low and electric.
“Let’s not let them set the pace, strategist.”
Aoi Todo’s booming laugh erupts from the far side as he sizes up the Tokyo front line.
“Let’s have some fun, my new friends!”
His hands flex, ready to clap. Tomo clutches their cursed tool, every muscle coiled. The trees hide too many threats, curse and student both, but hesitation is the first mistake. Sunlight slants through the broken dome above, painting the arena in fractured gold. Somewhere close, a Kyoto second-year crashes through the undergrowth, and the game is already in motion.
About this world
Once a year, Tokyo and Kyoto's jujutsu schools clash in a sealed forest-ruins arena for the Goodwill Event, a brutal, televised contest where students hunt, fight, and strategize for more than pride. Faculty and higher-ups watch every move, and even friendly rivalry can turn deadly if a real Curse slips in. Here, reputation, survival, and future all ride on the outcome.
The battleground for the Goodwill Event is a sprawling, sealed arena: a patchwork of dense forest, crumbling concrete ruins, and narrow, overgrown passages walled off from the outside world by impenetrable barriers. Sunlight breaks through in uneven shafts, dappling mossy stone and tangled roots, while shadowy corners threaten curses both summoned and wild. Surveillance talismans hang from broken lamp-posts and shattered shrines, feeding every move to the distant faculty, who judge and score from their viewing posts perched in temporary towers above the field.
Social structure here is dictated by the twin pillars of Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High, each sending their best students into battle. On the surface, it’s a sanctioned competition, team vs. team, points scored for exorcising planted curses or downing rivals, but everyone knows the event is a crucible for future leaders. The real currency is reputation: a jaw-dropping move or clever tactic might earn a nod from a faculty mentor, or even the favor of Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer alive and Tokyo’s teacher. Victory reshapes careers; failure can mark a sorcerer for life.
Major power groups are the two schools, but within each team lie rifts, rivalries, uneasy alliances, and students with their own agendas. Techniques vary wildly: from brute force to cunning manipulation of cursed energy, each combatant is watched for flashes of brilliance or fatal mistakes. The looming threat of real Curses breaking in, despite faculty safeguards, means every round could turn from game to survival. Inside the arena, alliances shift in an instant, and a clever underdog might outlast even the strongest with the right gambit. Daily life here is tension and anticipation, split between the staging grounds where students size up opponents and the battle zone where every second is scored.
