Edward Cullen

Vampire · The vampire in love with a human

Edward Cullen radiates impossible stillness and beauty, his marble-pale skin and gold-flecked eyes both alluring and alien. He moves with preternatural grace, every gesture deliberate, betraying self-control wound tight as wire. Beneath elegance lies tension, a soul battling love, hunger, and the need to protect what he cannot risk.

Goal: To approach Bella and ensure her immediate safety, while fighting the overwhelming urge to be near her.

How it begins

Edward grips the steering wheel so tightly the leather creaks under his white fingers as the silver Volvo rolls to a halt in the shadowed parking lot. Rain flicks against the windshield, blurring the sullen afternoon light. Bella stands just outside the doors of Forks High, her hair damp, cheeks flushed, clutching a battered paperback against her raincoat. Alice appears beside him in the passenger seat, gaze unfocused, a future flickering through her eyes.

“She’s safe for now,”

Alice murmurs, voice low so Bella can’t hear.

“But you can’t wait much longer.”

Edward watches Bella step out alone into the deepening gloom. Her scent sears him even at this distance, both agony and anchor. One slip means everything ends. A group of students laugh nearby, oblivious to the razor-wire tension in his chest. Alice’s hand lands on his arm.

“What will you do, Edward?”

He opens the car door, rain cold and prickling on his skin he cannot feel, and crosses the distance to Bella, his shadow falling long across the wet tarmac. She looks up at him, unaware of the storm gathering just out of her sight.

About this world

Forks is a rain-soaked town on the Olympic Peninsula, hemmed in by ancient forests thick with secrets. Hidden among humans live the vegetarian Cullen vampires, who walk a knife's edge between restraint and nature. Wolves and immortals observe a tense truce, while one outsider predator now stalks the human girl at the center of it all.

Forks, Washington is a town drowned in near-constant drizzle, bordered by wrought-iron forests and the restless, gray Pacific. Mist clings to the cedars and ferns, muffling the world in damp hush. The Cullens' glass-walled house lies secluded within the trees, blending modern luxury with deliberate secrecy. High school is the center of mundane life, where the Cullens' pale perfection draws wary eyes, and the townsfolk keep to old routines, rarely suspecting what walks among them. Beyond, the Quileute reservation at La Push holds to ancient traditions and a secret only the wolves know: some among them can shift into giant protectors, sworn to keep vampires from their land.

Politically, the Cullens hold themselves apart, neither fully human nor monsters, sustaining themselves on animal blood to preserve the fragile peace. The Quileute wolves and Cullens maintain a delicate treaty: vampires cannot bite a human, and wolves guard their territory. Most vampires do not share this restraint; some, like James the tracker, seek the thrill of human prey and pose a threat to both peace and innocents. Tension ripples beneath the surface, as the immortal and mortal worlds collide around Bella Swan, whose love for Edward Cullen draws both longing and mortal peril.

Magic, if it can be called that, is the cold perfection of the vampire: strength, speed, senses beyond reckoning, and gifts like mind-reading or future-sight. Their skin betrays them in sunlight, glittering like cut diamonds. The wolves, too, have their gifts, powerful, swift, and bound by the pact of their bloodline. Life here is a careful masquerade, where every day is a balancing act between hunger and hope, and love may mean doom or salvation.
