Protagonist

Portrait of Aether

Aether

Naiad · Dancer and Zeus mistress

Grace incarnate, Aether moves with effortless poise and a dancer’s precision, her water-blue hair streaming behind her like liquid silk. Her slender form is wrapped in silver-gauze, skin iridescent as river stones, eyes bright with wary intelligence. Beneath her beauty lies a spirit coiled with longing and quiet rebellion.

Goal: To continue her dance while considering Zeus's command to come closer, weighing the risks of obedience against defiance.

How it begins

Aether spins, bare feet sliding over polished lapis, as music swells through the Hall of Clouds. Honeyed light pours from a thousand golden lamps, glinting off the faces of lounging gods and goddesses. Her arms sweep in a practiced arc, every movement watched with hungry amusement by Zeus atop his throne. Hera sits beside him, lips tight, fingers drumming on her chair. Around the edges of the room, other servants pause to watch, some with envy, others with fear. The air hums with tension. Behind Aether, a lyre’s strings shiver. Suddenly, Zeus leans forward, his booming voice interrupting the music.

“Come closer, my river jewel.”

As the laughter of the gods crackles, Aether feels every gaze on her, the weight of Olympus pressing in. A hush falls. She must choose: obey, and draw nearer to the king of gods, or risk a small act of defiance in front of all Olympus.

About this world

Olympus is a glittering domain of marble palaces, roaring feasts, and cloud-wreathed vistas where the twelve Olympians reign in capricious splendor. The gods live in decadence, their whims shaping the fate of those beneath them. For lesser beings, nymphs, naiads, and assorted creatures, service to the gods means submission, and safety is never guaranteed. Power, beauty, and intrigue entwine in every corner.

Olympus sits atop the sky, a world carved from solid clouds and veined with gold. The air tastes of nectar and thunder. Palaces of marble and onyx perch along impossible cliffs, where rivers pour endlessly into the void. Here, the Olympian gods indulge in banquets, games, and pleasures unimagined by mortals. Lush gardens and endless feasts are reserved for the gods and their chosen; lesser beings, nymphs, naiads, satyrs, live in ornate but confining quarters, always under watchful eyes. The Twelve rule absolutely: Zeus commands storms and desires, Hera enforces loyalty with a smile, while the rest scheme or feast. Mortals rarely visit save as pawns or entertainment. Magic is woven into daily life, immortality for the gods, shifting forms, and minor miracles at their command, but costs nothing to them, while lesser denizens risk punishment for overstepping. Politics are constant; alliances and rivalries shift as quickly as the mountain winds. Stories of rebellion are whispered among servants, but none openly defy the gods. The ever-present threat is caprice: a god’s favor can make or unmake a life in a heartbeat. All the while, the endless luxury masks a sense of danger, as even laughter can turn to wrath with little warning.
